Water skiing and new glide sports
Alpine hunters and the birth of water skiing.
Water skiing was born in the twenties in France. Alpine hunters wanted to cross Lake Annecy with hydroplanes attached to their feet, drawn by a boat. After this first crossing, they decided to replace the boards by snow skis. Later on, one of them made his own skis, which wre much wider, and started skiing on the Mediterranean. Water skiing was born!
From water-skiing to new glide sports wakeboard, wakeskating, wakesurfing...
Today, "traditional" water-skiing is not the only sport practised!
Wakeboarding is a water sports created at the beginning of the eighties from a combination of water skiing snowboard and surfing techniques.
Wakeskate is the association of wakeboarding with skateboarding, in order to glide on one's board in total liberty.
Wakesurfing all the sensations of surfing without the ocean waves! A special boat producing a big wake enables the surfer to glide with his surf board without being attached to the latter.
Since many champions have shone in national and international competition: Clémentine Lucille, Emmanuelle Dumolard, Estelle Tuaz,Laurianne Masson or Philippe Girod...
